The author of 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' is Dr. Seuss, who also provided the illustrations to the book.
The book tells the story of the Grinch, a green creature who lives in cave with his dog max, his only companion. He attempts to steal Christmas from the residents of Whoville, by taking their presents. However, Christmas comes anyway, and the Grinch learns his lesson.
There have been many adaptations of the book, including television versions, film, and also a musical.
The Grinch also appears in many other films, including Jingle All the Way and both the Home Alone films (once in the scene where Kevin MaCallister is alone watching television in the first film, and once in the second film, where Kevin is in the limo). It has also been parodied in programmes such as The Simpsons, South Park, and in 2002 when animator Ted Bracewell created an internet fan film called 'How the Sith Stole Christmas'.
