T S Eliot is rightly known as a moden poet because he has the qualities of modernism. If we examine his "The Wasteland" then we will come to know about the modern aspects of his poetry. It shows man's materialistic approach, lack of feelings, lack of interest in nature or anything except one's ownself, self centered approach, lack of time for recreation and enjoyment, artificiality etc. The characters of Belinda and Typist are modern and "the game of chess" shows modern man's nature to check mate others. He is not following any rules of poetry and his poetry is more like a piece of prose than poetry.
