Capulet invites Paris, his kinsman, to a feast he is giving in honour of his daughter Juliet. There, Paris may woo her with a view to marriage. As he completes his conversation with Paris, Capulet calls over his servant, Peter, to give out the invitations to the feast. Peter is illiterate, and cannot read, so he enlists the help of two gentlemen he meets in the street, who happen to be Romeo and Benvolio of the house of Montague. When Romeo reads the name of Rosaline, he is determined to attend the feast, as Rosaline is a woman he has fallen head over heels in love with!  So, Romeo, Benvolio, and their kinsman Mercutio, 'gatecrash' the feast! Where upon, Tybalt. Kinsman of the Capulets, hears Romeo exult in the beauty of Juliet, and is determined to kill him!
