If you are looking to start your letter to mark the end of your internship, there are some things that you may wish to consider. To write the best possible letter you can, you should think about the following things:

  • Be personal!
If you got on well with the people that you did your internship with, you should be nothing but personal with your letter - write something that will leave fond and happy memories of you, whilst still showing your gratitude for their kindness and warmth towards you during your time there.

  • Don't try to be somebody you're not
If you seem too professional and cold, they may remember you in a harsher light than you would like. Write about the memories that you made during your time there; the things that made you happy and the things that made you laugh. Due to it being a professional environment of work, you may wish to write about the skills and experiences that you have taken from the work you did there and mention where and how they will help you in the future.
  • Address everyone
Absolutely anyone who helped you during your internship needs to be mentioned and addressed. This will show that nobody was taken for granted or ignored, meaning that you will be embraced if you ever return there for work in the future.

Your aim here is to be remembered in a good light, especially if the people that work there are going to be writing references for you for your future job prospects. Don't go overboard though, as nobody likes a suck up. Just be friendly and act how you did when you still worked for them. Make little jokes here and there and mention that you will miss the experience.
