If you want to write an appreciation note to employees that has to go with the bonus, simply express your sincere appreciation regarding their performance in a particular task/department etc. You can either be general and write the same note to everyone or you can also write a note to each one mentioning their performance area. What possible benefit do you believe your business will gain by such a letter ?
If you have outstanding employees then you reward this with a pay raise or other type benefit.
A letter serves no purpose but a pat on the back goes a long way, just don't overdo it.
Show your gratitude monetarily, after all, these people are your employees, not your personal friends.
