He attended King Edward V1 grammar school, in Stratford, from the age of 7. At the age of 9, he was introduced to Latin. At 14, his father, in dire financial straits, pulled him out of school to work in his shop, depriving Shakespeare of the university education he was working toward.

William Shakespeare the son of a very prominent town official named John Shakespeare. It is said that William Shakespeare may have attended the King Edward VI Grammar School which is located in Stratford. However his attendance cannot be confirmed as all the attendance records of the school failed to survive. But since William Shakespeare was the son of a town official, his education in the King Edward VI Grammar School would have been free. Thus it is said that William Shakespeare attended the King Edward VI School.
