Rubeus Hagrid was born on December 6, 1928 and is a well-known fictional character in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. He is the Keeper of Keys and Grounds, the gamekeeper and teaches 'Care of Magical Creatures' at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, which Harry Potter and his friends attend in the famous fictional series.

Usually known only by his last name, the animal lover Hagrid, who is also passionate about dangerous magical creatures, is a half-blood, that is to say, he is of a mixed parentage. His father was a wizard, and his mother, the giantess Fridwulfa, left him when Hagrid was just a baby. Fridwulfa is yet to make her debut in the Potter series, but she has been mentioned in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The memorable role of Hagrid on the big screen was played by Scottish actor Robbie Coltrane, whose first appearance in the Harry Potter movie series was in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

I agree in general terms with the previous answer, but was under the impression that Hagrid never revealed the names of either of his parents. In the chapter "Hagrid's Tale" in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", Hagrid says he has found out that his mother had died some years previously, and then said it didn't bother him too much as she had not been much of a mother anyway. In a previous book he also said that his father was already dead.

Perhaps this is because I have the English editions of the books. Is she named in the American ones or something?
