When submitting a sick leave letter to a college professor or administrator, there are a few things you need to make sure to include:
- What illness you are suffering from
- How long you expect to be out for
- Whether the illness is contagious or not
In some cases, you might also want to request some reading material or extra material you can work on from home from your professor, in order to stay up to speed with the rest of the course. This of course depends on whether you'll be up to the extra work!
Example for a college sick leave letter
Here's a short sample letter you could submit to your college in order to get some sick leave approved:
To whoever it may concern,
I'm writing to inform you that I'm currently suffering from (name of the disease) and expect to be absent from my course (name of course) for (number of days).
I should be back by (date you expect to return), and will try my best to minmize the impact this sick leave will have on my progress on my course, but if there's any additional reading or preparation I can do from home, then please forward me details to (your email address).
