This lively story is about a little girl and her journey full of magic, thrill, excitement and danger. The actors Carol Channing, John Hurt, and Jodi Benson and Gilbert Gottfried contributed a lot to bring this movie to life. Barry Manilow invested a lot on the film's music. Kids love this tale which is about a little girl who was as small as a human thumb. She was captured by a toad, and she wished to carry on her life with the Fairy Prince. This is an excellent family movie. Children also love the Gilbert Gottfried when he makes the voice of weird beetle.

A woman longs for a child and asks a witch to help her. The witch gives her a grain of barley, which grows into a flower; inside the flower is a tiny girl just an inch tall. The woman is very happy until one day Thumbelina is carried off by an old toad, to be a wife for the toad's son. She escapes from them with the help of some fishes, and starves and shivers through the winter until she is rescued by a kind old field-mouse. They live comfortably until the field-mouse tries to arrange a marriage for Thumbelina with her neighbour, a mole who, to her horror, wants her to live underground with him. In the passage connecting the field-mouse's home with the mole's, she finds a seemingly dead bird and warms it back to life. In the spring the bird, a swallow, takes her away on his back; in a warm country they find a kingdom of people just like Thumbelina, who marries their king.
