There does not seem to be a dedicated work by Maya Angelou by the name of 'My Sojourn in the Land of my Ancestors'. It could be that this title refers to a chapter or poem within a book that is not listed. As you can see from this list here, the title 'My Sojourn in the Lands of my Ancestors' does not appear:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Maya_Angelou_works.

It is not possible, therefore, to give you a plot outline of this book or chapter as it does not seem to exist. There is also little evidence through an online search that there is a plot with this title.

Maya Angelou is an American poet and author and has been recognized for her many autobiographical works. Many of the poems along with the six autobiographies that she has written detailing different stages of her life focus on issues such as race and overcoming racial boundaries and stereotypes. She is highly respected as a spokesperson for many equal rights organizations. She is still working today despite her age of 83, lecturing at many universities and colleges, and holds a Professorship of American Studies at the Wake Forest University in North Carolina. Angelou also recited her poem 'On the pulse of morning' at the inauguration of Bill Clinton to the office of President of the United States of America.

As well as her literary works Maya Angelou has also dabbled in film and television, acting in several programs as well as directing the film 'Down in the Delta' in 1998. Most recently she has appeared on Oprah Winfrey's show and it has been well documented that Winfrey and Angelou are friends, Winfrey seeing Angelou as a great role model and influence in her life.
