A novel is a book but all books are not novels.
A book is just the physical thing: Bound paper with covers. A novel is a fictional story that's longer than a novella and short story.
A novel is a work of fiction while non-fiction books on every subject abound.
Yet the purists would tell you that not all fiction qualifies as a novel. In their opinion a novel comes dressed in a tuxedo while the kind of story most of us enjoy reading are likely to turn out wearing a t-shirt and flip-flops. The difference is often in the eye of the beholder.

Mostly a novel is a book based on some sort of story true or fictional. But not all books are novels even though al novels are books!!
