I would address him, and say thank you for what you just mentioned in your own words, and let him/her know how much you enjoyed it. Maybe if you want to plan a party and invite the boss you can tell him/her that you may plan one in the future and will invite him/her for your gratitude. Just let them know you enjoyed yourself if you did and thank him/her. Be sweet but subtle and keep it to the point and not make it too long. Short and sweet.
