It is very difficult to put a value on an item without seeing it up close. Valuations depend on numerous factors including size, rarity, quality, style and most importantly amount of damage to the painting. You would get the most accurate valuation by taking the painting to a large auction house such as Christies or, if this isn’t possible, a local auction house or original pictures store.

There are also a selection of online valuation websites who can give you an approximate valuation based on details you give them as well as looking at photos of the painting. The problem with this is, to get an accurate valuation you need to ensure you disclose all the important details about the painting. This especially includes details of possible damage to the painting. It would be a good idea to take close up photographs of any damage to maximise the accuracy of the valuation. Websites which offer this service include www.valuemystuff.com/what-we-value/paintings and www.picturevaluation.com/

There have been many Richard Akerman prints made and these can be bought from £10 up to £40 depending on size and design. For an original Akerman, you shouldn’t expect no less than £50-£60, however, a rare Akerman painting in good condition could be worth a lot more than this.
