All of these answers are wrong except for the ones mentioning there will be a new series. There WILL be a new series. It is not called 'The Lost Goddess' or the 'The Avengeance.' It will be called 'The Lost Hero' and it will be branching off of the prophecy made in last Percy Jackson book. He also says the original characters from Percy Jackson will be in the book but will not be main characters. "Riordan also stated that the time between the two occurrences of great prophecies is not as long as Apollo assumes it will be." The series itself is named The Heroes of Olympus.
Yes there will be actually it will resume with all the characters and what they have been doing since the end of the 5th book. The dumb part is that there will be two new main characters I am guessing there Percy's and Annabeth's but I don't know for sure but in the books and how they like each other I think so.

Oh my god there are making a 6th book of Percy Jackson. That will be so cool. I would really like to know what is going on in the next series of it. I can't wait to read it if it comes out. The author is on a role making these books. There will be another book. It's called Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Avengance. In it, it's been a long time since the Last Olympian and Clarisse from the Ares cabin is murdered and the other Ares campers blame Percy. So to clear his name once again, he sets off to find and kill the person that killed her. The murderer turns out to be Lamia, a monster that has a beautiful woman's body from the waist up and a snake's body from the waist down. She's like a vampire because she drinks the blood of children in the night. She also turns out to be the granddaughter of Poseidon and Lybie. So Percy must decide to kill his own relative or never have a clear name. I believe that Rick Riordan, the author, has already sent it to the publisher.
I think there will be the sixth book because there is too much question unanswered in this book. Like I mean will percy meet Calypso again or what is thalia doing with the hunters stuff like that

I have heard rumors of a sixth book, but I don't think anybody is absolutly sure. But if there is going to be one, and having read almost all of the Percy Jackson books, I trust Rick Riordan that it will be very good, and not like some movies or books, when the sequal is just another lame and unnessesary addition. I mean, have read the last sentence in The Last Olympian, I said, "Yeah, there needs to be a sequal." But if there isn't going to be a sequal, the only losses for me in that is that my friend Alex would have beat me in the series and I had no chance of beating her, and that I would have to find yet another series to adore with all my heart.
