The two main divisions of literature are whether the piece is spoken or oral and printed or written literature. This means that a piece of literature can be something that is spoken and said to other people, such as taking it from a transcript of people having a conversation together and then referring to that as literature. This type of literature can also include performed poetry and rapping, with the new trend of MC poetry becoming rather popular amongst young students. This allows people that do not have the interest in sitting down and actually writing a novel or a verse to get involved with English studies in their own way, branching the subject out for all to enjoy.
