As long as you have some basic food coloring colors then colors can be mixed in the same way as you would mix paint. Simply use the red food coloring dye and add some white icing sugar for the pink effect. You may find that, if baking a cake and trying to die the cake mix itself, just the red food coloring will work in bringing the cake out with a pink tinge. This is because the red will mix with the white of the flower and yellow of the butter to create more of a pink color anyway.

  • Using other materials

If you do not have any food coloring dye then other red juices can be used. Good examples of this are red berries, which will keep a cake sweet whilst giving a brilliant red twinge that, when mixed with white icing sugar, will make a hot pink color. If you are making your own dye or mixing two dyes to try and get hot pink then it may be worth doing a couple of trial runs to make sure that your food comes out in the desired color.

  • Can hot pink be bought online?

If you do not have time to mix your own pink color then there are many places you can go on the internet that offer the hot pink food coloring dye as an option.

The website http://www.sugarcraft.com/catalog/coloring/coloring.htm offers a hot pink food gel as an option along with some more subtle baker's rose and rose pink colors that will bring your food out in a pink color.

The website http://www.cakescookiesandcraftsshop.co.uk/acatalog/Dusky-Pink-Food-Colouring.html also offers a dusty pink color that looks similar to hot pink so this may be another option. You may even find that your local supermarket will stock the desired color.
