Lace is basically a lightweight fabric or even an openwork fabric. It is usually made with the help of machine or by hand. These holes are generally made by removing of threads or fabric from a beforehand woven material, but more over and over again open places are fashioned as part of the lace material. Lace originated somewhere around the late 15th and early 16th centuries. Lace was originally known as linen, silk, gold, or silver threads were used. Today lace is made with cotton thread.

There are different types of laces namely Needle lace, Cutwork, or white work lace, Bobbin Lace, Tape lace, Knotted lace, Crocheted lace, Knitted lace and Machine-made lace.
