Lord of the Flies By: William Golding - Not in the traditional sense of nature as calming, peaceful and beautiful, rather in this context the drastic change in "nature" or their surroundings, when the kids were stuck on an island, affected practically all of the children psychologically. The absence of buildings, roads and adults (loss of contact with the civilized world) and this "new" environment of nature in its "rawest" form caused the children to revert to a primal state like other animals.
