Some say that Shakespeare used Hamlet as a metaphor to highlight the tensions that existed and arose during the “English Reformation” that delved in to whether Catholics were legitimate or the Protestants. Shakespeare, quite outstandingly, brings both beliefs together in the play.

Hamlets to be or not be means is a reference to live or to die? Hamlet was unsure about death life and suicide. He was confused about death . What would it be like? Was it a sweet dream. Or would it be worse than life? He's seeing that life for him is dissatisfying . He's worried if he would die would he get misjudged. He's considering suicide he's unsure of his plans . He's angry about his fathers death. He considering his choices. Hamlet religion tells him you can't enter the gates of heaven if you commit suicide . You don't have the power to take life. Yet, he's not sure if he rather die; because he doesn't know what will happen because if his actions. He's stuck with the choice to live or to die ? He wants to stop the pain doesn't know how to .

Other theories are he was in love but wasn't sure of it. Peso ole say he was in love with a man . Not sure about that. He was confused rather he should love him or not . And what would happen if he died would he go to hell. Or would he have sweet dreams ? Would he enter the gates?
