Graphic design generally falls under any kind of creative imagery that you design YOURSELF. Some people say editing others' work falls under graphic design, yet some don't. That's up for grabs.

Web design contains the installation of any work the graphic designer did. This also includes HTML, any kind of moving eye candy, links, you name it.

A web designer will never be more important than a graphic designer and vice versa. Both work hand in hand to accomplish an end goal. That goal is to achieve 100% customer satisfaction. Believe me when I say this. . . They endure hell to accomplish just that.

If you want a website for your business then you will need of both as per my view.

Graphic designer will design the vector layout or flat icon for your web pages.

Web designer will design the pages, arrange things for front end side.

Do you find that many designers tend to do a bit of both? Or are the two fields mainly separate?

I'd say that basically, those two things are quite similar. There are some minor differences but a good designer can do both. Banner design is another similar niche. You can get a banner design sample from https://treylance.com/wizard/logo but those guys not only do banners but also logos because the process of creation such designs is really similar.

Graphic design and web design are both different things and use different skills. Graphic Design involves artistic skills whereas web design needs programming skills and knowledge of the web.

Let's learn some differences in the two fields -

1) A graphic designer will design graphics for a company to promote its products and services on different platforms where a web designer will design a complete website for a company.

2) A graphic designer doesn't need the knowledge of HTML or programming whereas a web designer needs a complete knowledge of programming and its tools.

3) A graphic designer should have a creative mind to design attractive graphics whereas a web designer needs a coder mind who can develop a functional website.

4) A graphic designer will have a one-way interaction with users and web designers have a mutual interaction with their audience.

So, it is clear that both the fields are different and require different skills. If you are looking for the best Web Design Company Winnipeg then go for Symbicore that will develop a creative and functional website for your company.
