When you paint your door and garage your neighbors may have the solution for your loved of the color black. Anytime someone says they have an obsession, a light comes on. This is the time to get help. you may just find that is just something you are substituting for something or someone you miss. Either way, before you go to the poor house buying paint, please call a health worker. There are many free places. Best wishes. Now don't paint the doors yet.
Maybe you should think about going to a therapist. I'm not saying that you have a problem, but that you might be obsessing, and that they might be able to help you correct it given time and work. I'm not saying its' something wrong with you either, some people suffer with OCD, obsessive compulsive disorder, and that might be the case with you. There are many different types of disorders, one person might not be able to step on cracks, another might feel the need to fold a napkin, so on and so on. Seek out someone to talk to o.k. Thank you for your comments, I have booked an appointment to go and see a health worker for tomorrow. I'm afraid I have already painted my front door and garage :( I now am wanting to paint the windows but am trying ever so hard to stop myself. I have poured all the paint away and instead using "paint" on the computer to content myself. Thanks again :)
