I haven't read "Fang" but I went to the Maximum Ride website, and I clicked on the forums, and there are many answers to your questions! From the answers I have read: He doesn't die, Max and Fang do not break up, etc. But again, you might want to double-check. If you really want to read the book before the US release, the United Kingdom released the book on Feb. 6th, whereas the United States book will be released on March 15th. It's up to you,  whether you want to read the book now, and pay a little more money than usual because of the shipping, or you want to wait. Personally, the UK cover of "Fang" is a whole lot nicer.
