Theoretically, frogs could stay underwater their whole lives... Though they have lungs to breathe atmosphere, they are also able to glean O2 out of the water through what is called cutaneous gas exchange, otherwise known as breathing through their skin.

     1. They have lungs that are able to take in O2 and expel CO2
  2.  They are able to breath through their skin, (take in moisture and extract O2) through a process called cutaneous gas exchange
