Canonization is basically an act using which a Christian church can declare a deceased person as a saint. The church also includes this name in the canon or list of the recognized saints.

Canonization takes on different modes in different school of thoughts in Christianity. The act of Canonization is with the Holy See in Roman Catholic Church and Eastern Catholic Church. It needs to be proved that the deceased person lived and died in a holy way so he/ she has to be publicly recognized as a Saint.
