Notice the generally. Fortunately, specifically, some people do not do this.
What writer/commentator said: "People will generally accept facts as truth only if the facts agree with what they already believe."?
That is the sadly recently deceased Andy Rooney. Purveyor of many witty and pithy home truths over many years.
Actually not taking anything from mr(the cantankerous complainer himself) rooney : ) ,but i heard this a long time ago from billy graham and judge judy.in tother words if it sounds like the truth it usually is, or if it's the truth you don't have to think if your telling the truth.or iffin it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck then it's a duck. : )
Well it's probably because generally people trust statistics and facts, because they immediately assume that it has professionally been proven and so therefore they should trust it. But yes, it is psychological people automatically tend to side with facts or other people's opinions when they match their own.
