A dramaturgical report is a report of comments written by someone working for the Literary Manager in a theatre. People creating these reports are literary assistants, assistant directors, professional playwrights, playreaders, even qualified actors. Qualifications to do this job are fairly wide ranging, it's usually a matter of trust between the Literary Manager and the readers.
The report discusses some of the important elements of the play and their relative strengths and weaknesses. They are normally brutally honest because they are not meant to be nice, they are recommendations to the Literary Manager or Dramaturg of the company on which work should be looked at. The areas consider might be things like dialogue, plot, characters, theme etc.
Most work is rejected and it is explained to the reader why. If it is elevated, the reader completing the form would usually give their reasons for why it would be a good idea to produce this play.
