If you are choosing your options for your GCSEs, it is difficult to pick from all of the courses that are available. In a lot of schools, one subject within Art is compulsory. Art is brilliant if you actually enjoy being creative and, given that it has so many little subjects within it, it means that there has to be one of them that you will enjoy. Here are a number of different Art GCSEs you could take:

• Textiles GCSE

This GCSE allows you to build up skills around the art of sewing. This is a great GCSE if you are interested in fashion and fashion design, which may lead you on to want to study fashion at college and university, perhaps going on to a career in fashion. You study how to design with fabrics and how to sew, using hand or sewing machine. Over the two years, you will build up sketch books and then do a practical exam at the end of high school, where you will be given a brief and told to make the object.

• Fine Art GCSE

This is for your pure art, the things that you'd imagine if you were thinking about art. Painting, drawing and the occasional sculpture, Fine Art is for those who like the traditional side to art. Taking this GCSE would be wise if you have a flair for art already, as you can master your skills over the two years of work you will do towards your Art GCSE.

• Photography GCSE

Photography is said to be the GCSE to take if you are not very good at the hands on side of art, as in the Fine Art aspects. As long as you have a flair for creativity and seeing the beauty in things, photography will be great for you. You get to work with computers, drawing and cameras, meaning that you get a wide range of mediums to play around with. You get to take pictures of your friends in photo shoots and study what makes a photograph work.
