The poem talks about a very unique person with an independent mind. It describes in the form of a fable the values that make a man or woman of integrity. One who follows his conscience, and has no regard for political correctness. One who is no body's captive and refuses to cow-tow in obsequiousness. A person who does not defer to authority in order to curry favour. A Lone Dog is one who has great integrity
