You need 2 pieces of gimp string. Knot them together at the top, and make a loop with one of the pieces of string. Wrap the other piece of gimp around the loop at the bottom where the knot is. Take the end of that piece of string and slip it through the part that wraps around the loop. Pull it tight, remembering to keep the string with the loop intact. Now, with the string that was tied around the loop, make another loop and slip it through the first loop. Take the end of the string with the first loop and pull it tight around the loop you just made. You have just made your first stitch! To continue, make a loop with the string you just pulled tight and stick it through the loop you just made. Keep doing this and soon you will have a long string of butterfly. ( just so you know, it will never look like a butterfly, so I don't know why they called it butterfly.) the string will curl and that is normal. To finish it, take the string that doesn't have the loop in it and stick it through the loop. DON'T MAKE A LOOP WITH THIS STRING!!! Pull the loop tight. You should now have two strings without loops. Tie them together and you have completed the butterfly stitch. YAY!!!
