Robin Hood is only an Archetypal figure from English Forklore. There is no significant evidence that he was a real figure. So till it is accepted by historians we would have to say he is only part of the English Forklore.

I have to disagree. Robin Hood was a real person (The Earl of HuntingDon) I cannot confirm that he truly robbed from the rich to give to the poor but he did exist and his descendants are still around to this day. If you look into Samuel Huntington (signer of the Declaration of Independence) you will find that until the family moved to America the name was HuntingDon.
Robin Hood was a real man, but we have no evidence as to whether or not he actually robbed the rich for the poor.
There were at least 12 Documented cases of people Named Robin Hood. It was a Common alias for Highwaymen at the time.
