William Shakespeare lived for large periods of time in both London and Stratford-Upon-Avon.

Shakespeare was born in 1564 in Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwickshire. Sometime between 1585 and 1592, he moved to London to embark upon a career as an actor, writer and part owner of his own playing company, called Lord Chamberlain's Men (later renamed the King's Men). He appears to have retired to Stratford-Upon-Avon sometime around 1613, where he died three years later.

In Shoreditch, a borough of London just outside of the city wall, down the Bishopsgate Road that led to London Bridge, where he lived, in rented accommodation, for all his London life. Eventually, toward the end, he lived in Blackfriars,( where the company had bought the Blackfriars Theatre), but later moved back to Stratford-upon-Avon, where he died.
